Tuesday 10/21/08-Future Fibers

Stain-Resistant Shirts and space air bags have more in common than you think. Both of these materials are super high-tech fibers. These texiles can have hundreds of uses. from space to underground. The possibilities are endless.....................................when you think about it, it will mess with you mind. But before you think about that you have to think about the how. They are developing newer stronger materials using the smallest particles possible atoms. Atoms combine to make long strands of fiber called polymers. That’s as well as I can explain so please if you are interested please read more on this topic at some other site. i have no opinions on this topic.....

Fly High

Fly High is an article that tells about careers in aviation such as being a test pilot; a commercial airline pilot and they even talked to one man about his career as a flight instructor.

From Student to Teacher
Barrington Irving was raised in Miami, Florida, but was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Irving lived an everyday life not really thinking much about jobs or careers. But one day he met Capt. Gary Robinson, a pilot for United Airlines. After Irving and Robinson began to talk Robinson asked Irving if he had ever thought of becoming a pilot. Irving didn’t believe that he was smart enough to become a pilot, he thought that people from the inner city weren’t smart enough to learn how to fly. When he told Robinson this Robinson replied with ‘if you can do it, then you can do it.’
From then on Robinson worked hard to earn money for his flying lessons.
That was the part of the article that interested me most.

Testing,Testing
This part of the article tells about Capt. Heather Ross, a test pilot for the Boeing Company in Seattle. She was the first person to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a new plane that is designed to hold at least 210 passengers. Ross informs the readers that most people who want to become a pilot train on and fly only one type of airplane, but a test pilot fly's all the planes.
A test pilots job is to test the planes ability to fly, and to make sure that it is airworthy. Ross may test the planes anywhere from one hour to ten hours a day. one of the most frightening test in my opinion is having to turn off the engines and fly the plane like that, but thankfully all pilots are taught how to fly the plane while the engines aren't working.

Flying to Your Destination
Price Gillenwater used to always watch the planes go by will he played outfield on his little league team. Flying wasn't his first career choice but that change after he didn't get into medical school he joined the U.S navy and became a pilot. afterwhich he became a pilot for Southwest Airlines.

All these pilots agree that if you are pursueing a career in aviation you should take classes in math and science. As for me I wouldn't really like a job in aviation, but who knows maybe I will have one.

Friday 10/17/08-Game On

‘Game on’ is an article that informs the readers about the various jobs in the gaming industry and how those jobs will be in high demand for workers in the near future. Total sales in the United States gaming industry for 2007 are about $16 billion and $17 billion. Just 50 years ago it was just a few geeks in there basement or garage.

More Gamers=More Designers
Video games are in high demand today than any other time before with this increase the numbers of available jobs in the gaming industry has also increased. Whole teams of people work on designing the video games we all know and love. The average cost of developing these video games has gone up from an average of $40,000 to around $10 million per game. This price jump has been cause by the complexity of today’s games and the pay of the enormous teams that are working.

Major In Video Games
Becoming a game designer is not just fun and games. Game development is considered one of the most challenging degrees to earn. Students can choose for three different tracks, Art and Animation, Game Design, and Electronic Game Programming.

Find Your Game
To create games it takes up to 150 people to finish the job. Artists create the look of the game. Animators add movement to the artwork. Game designers work to create the over all look and feel of the game. Programmers program the game so that when a button is pressed the character or game will respond. Programming requires advance technical understanding. Programming Is one of the highest paying jobs in the gaming industry.

Gobs Of Green Jobs

I think that making more green jobs is a great idea, but it all depends on how it is done. If America keeps ignoring the fact that something is the world is being polluted horrible and potentially devastating things will happen. I m not saying that we are ignoring global warming or anything, I m trying to say that we need to something about it and fast.
Okay anyways what made me think about this was an article I read called “Gobs of Green Jobs”, it talks about how we could have millions of Green Jobs in the future. The problem is that the jobs haven’t even been thought of yet. Sure we already have some green job but it’s not enough. We could have solar and wind generators running our power but instead we have power-plants that spew out huge amounts of greenhouse gases. The world would be a better cleaner place it wouldn’t be perfect but it’s a way to balance the chaotic life Americans live now. Some people don’t even think about these things. I think that is sad. It seems like they only think about themselves. I don’t know that’s just the way I think.
